Sophia Program for Sustainable Futures (SPSF)
ABOUT THIS PROGRAM
This is a newly launched English-based undergraduate program by Sophia University, first admission in Autumn 2020.
Against the backdrop of today's rapidly globalising world, society is compelled to deal with complex and global problems such as war and conflict, poverty, economic disparity, environment degradation, and the lack of access to quality education; these issues transcend national boundaries where diverse political, social and value systems collide. As attested by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations, these problems are interlinked and require a concerted effort by the international community and multi- and inter-disciplinary approaches. SPSF offers curricula to develop critical and creative minds and skills to work in the global environment to find solutions to these pressing issues.
Students will specify their desired field of study when applying (Journalism, Education, Sociology, Economics, Management, International Relations, or Area Studies) and the degree certificate would be a Bachelor's Degree in one of these fields.
Six departments are involved in this program and students who have enrolled in any of the six departments will study their specialised areas as well as other relevant courses from the six departments and other departments based on individual's interests and needs.
